About Me
Who is Todd Morgan?
I’m Todd B. Morgan, a proud St. Mary’s County resident for over 40 years, originally from Buffalo, NY. I earned a degree in Business Administration from Susquehanna University and my MBA from Marshall University.
A bit about me:
I am a three-term County Commissioner, first elected in 2010, and have proudly represented all the citizens of St. Mary’s County, and District 4.
Additionally, I am a full-time defense contractor with extensive knowledge of NAS Patuxent River and Webster Field.
I have been a business owner for over 18 years, helping build one of the most successful defense contracting firms in the region: Eagan, McAllister Associates, Inc.
I served as an adjunct college professor for twenty years at many of our local colleges, including the College of Maryland, the University of Maryland University College, Charles County Community College (now College of Southern Maryland), and Embry-Riddle University.
I am an Eagle Scout and was a former Cub Scout and Boy Scout Assistant Scoutmaster, and I am an honored recipient of the National Outstanding Eagle Scout Award.
I have decided to seek election to the Maryland House of Delegates, specifically, to represent District 29C. Having been an elected official in St. Mary’s County for twelve years, I am in a unique position to bring both knowledge and experience to the office. For more than a decade as a Commissioner, I’ve worked closely with our representatives in Annapolis. I have challenged legislation that I felt could be improved, and I have collaborated on initiatives I knew would be beneficial to our communities. Working with elected officials in Annapolis, I’ve helped craft many strategies and tactics that have improved the quality of life in the county.
My history:
In 1979 I got a phone call from former Marshall University Professor Rex Eagan. Rex recruited me to come to St. Mary’s County and work for Booz Allen Applied Research (known today as Booz-Allen Hamilton). Thus began my working career as a defense contractor. After several successful years, I joined Rex and John McAllister as a partner in their start-up federal contracting firm, Eagan McAllister Associates Inc. (EMA). We would eventually grow the firm to employ over 1000 professionals in 11 states. In 2005 EMA was sold to a more prominent firm now known globally as SAIC.
From 1980 thru the early 2000’s I was a college instructor/professor. I taught over 125 classes at just about every local college and University in the local area. It gave me an excellent opportunity to meet so many people. At the same time, I continued to play basketball in our recreation and parks leagues for several teams. I also coached youth basketball for six seasons. These experiences of being in classrooms and on basketball courts taught me so much about the rich heritage and culture of St. Mary’s County.
In 1990, I married Maria Michelon. We raised three beautiful children, Lauren, Andrew, and Megan. Sadly, Maria was in a tragic automobile accident in 2011 and succumbed to her injuries in 2012.
As a public servant, I have served on multiple boards. These experiences have given me a deep appreciation and many insights into the county’s needs. All the while, I remained attentive to the defense industry, recognizing it is a prominent provider to St. Mary’s County’s strong economy.
- I served as President of the Southern Maryland Navy Alliance for six years.
- I served four terms as the Chairman of the Southern Maryland Tri-County Council.
Faith is an integral part of who I am as well. I have been active at the Church of the Ascension serving twice on its vestry.
My campaign to be elected Delegate will remain steadfastly focused on the values and principles by which I have lived my life. Teamwork is crucial to success, learning is a daily discipline, and hard work is the path to success.
As a fiscal conservative:
- I advocate for lower taxes, smaller and more efficient government.
- I support those who provide a positive educational experience for our students.
- I believe money has never proven to be the answer; integrity and hard work solve more challenges.
- I unequivocally back and believe in law enforcement and fire and rescue volunteer personnel.
- I understand businesses need the freedom to compete, and competition breeds a strong economy. I recognize that all industries, and especially small local businesses, were devastated during the pandemic. In response, I rigorously supported extending grants to many small businesses and restaurants and focused on supporting locally owned and managed companies.
- I support a rural way of life but recognize the need for a solid infrastructure to support our citizens.
I ask, and thank you for your continued support.
